There is Water

The acequias have begun flowing, a sign of the return of life to the Valley after a dry, cold winter.  I peddled my favorite route up the Alameda Drain and over to the Rio Grande Nature Center, then down the Bosque Trail to Campbell and home.  Below is the view of the Albuquerque Acequia as it flows just north of Matthew.

I was able to get a good ride in on Sunday all the way to the Nature Center and then another short ride to Menaul on Monday.  During both, I had my Google Glass on for some good photo-documentation.

Here's the intersection of the Nature Center south bypass trail (since they close their gates at 5:00) where it meets the East Bank Bosque Trail.  (Looking west)

Ducks and turtles abound at the viewing ports just west of and adjacent to the Visitor Center.

The bridge over the riverside drain heading west.  The bike trail angles to the right (north), while steps run straight up to the main Bosque Trail.

One of the irrigation weirs along the Duranes Lateral.

A little farther on, I crossed the lateral on a slightly wider wooden catwalk.

Trail conditions between Matthew and Campbell--just a few Sisymbrium, tumble mustards, a common early season weed that is on no danger to tires or dog paws.
